G+_Jason Perry
I am after a domain name, the current owner is an auction company. Last time the registration expired it moved from our end auction company to the next. What is the best way to try and get the domain when it expires next month? G+_Ben Yanke
Not having any better ideas, just make sure you're at the computer at the exact time it ends. There might also be services that could do this for you, or with an aptitude, you could write a script.

G+_David Wiggins
There should be whois info on who currently owns the registration. It may be possible to contact the current owner and request transfer. Even if they have whois set to private, the registrar they used may have a means to pass on a request. G+_Jason Perry
David Wiggins?, I am kicking myself for not doing that when it was a physical person and not an auction house. I had all the details I just figured I would wait till it was available and purchase it. A auction house has got to it before me twice now. If I wanted to pay $300+ USD I could pay ICANN to address the squatting issue and get the name that way but that's out of my price range for a personal domain name. G+_David Wiggins
Yikes, I don't blame you. I hurt for you. Ben Yanke?'s script idea may be your best bet, if possible. That's probably how the squatters do it. Maybe running a few minutes before-after expiration time? I'm not sure how that would work, though. Good luck. G+_Ben Yanke
I'd just run it on cron once a minute Set x to whatever safety buffer you want If (domain is available) [ attempt to buy ] Run once a minute until it gets renewed by someone else or you get it. G+_J Miller
Check with your domain provider. See if they have a way to buy the domain when it becomes available.
