G+_Andy Millgrove
I know eh? Either people on Amazon won't ship it here (Canada) or the price is astronomical. And they wonder why we order from China. Shipping from the U.S. is ridiculous now too with Ebay's Global shipping charge. Even regular shipping is nuts, plus it takes forever! It's almost on par with Asia for wait time. I get stuff from Europe, even Eastern Bloc countries, faster than from the U.S.. I've ordered from Russia and Bulgaria and had it in my hands inside of a week.
G+_Jason Perry
Andy Millgrove?, I always love getting hit with customs charges too. I really wish I lived a little closer to the border. Whenever I get around to getting my website back up I think one of the things I am going to do with it is publish a cost breakdown of ordering electronics parts in Canada and a list of sites I have bought from. G+_Andy Millgrove
Sounds Good. It's been a while since I've actually ordered from a 'brick and mortar' parts store. There are a couple that are pretty close to me but they are mostly surplus and a lot of the time they don't have something in the store and want to charge some ridiculous amount to get it from the warehouse to the store. (Sayal). Or worse, the website says they have it in stock, I call and they confirm that it is indeed in stock and after I take the time to drive there they have nothing. Then they tell me that their system must not have been updated at the time. More like too lazy to get out from behind the counter to actually LOOK to see if the part is on the shelf. Also Sayal. I always had great service from Electrosonic in Toronto when I ordered from them. A LOT OF YEARS AGO. Digikey was ok too way back when... at least I think that's what it was called. I'm wondering if there is still those little parts places on Queen St. in Toronto in Chinatown. I went with a friend once and scored a bunch of tubes to build and audio amp. Good times!
