G+_George Kozi
I'm watching all the TWiT Tech specialists being bewildered about a Windows 8 refresh, getting stuck, and scratching their heads. ...and i'm doing it on an old machine that runs Windows 8... and runs it well... ...and now i'm scratching my head... I wish I had one of them WTF throw pillows...
G+_Brian Belanger
Never understood the confusion of Windows 8. I use the keyboard and mouse more than the touch screen and I have no problems. I don't need "boot to desktop" nor the start button.
G+_Brian Belanger
My guess is - People do not like change and generally resistant to change. I think some of the Tech Press is to blame for the negativity towards Windows 8.
G+_George Kozi
Granted, Windows8 has a couple of rough edges and idiotic choices that need to be fixed, but that's to be expected. I kinda like it, and it is far less of a disaster than some make it out to be.
G+_Brian Belanger
When I boot my PC and want to use the Desktop - I click the Desktop icon in Metro. It takes seconds,
G+_George Kozi
:D yeah, that's what all the drama is about, isn't it?

G+_Damian Mongru
Brian Belanger I'll have to double-check on my Win8 machine, but the 'top left' tile is chosen from the start screen when you press Enter. So I put my Desktop tile there. I'm curious as to what problems people are having - there are things (moving the mouse to the corners etc) that need to be learnt, but after that it seems to work well. G+_George Kozi
yeah... there should be a "how to move the mouse to the corner" seminar...
G+_Marc Kline
I've been using Windows 8 for the past few days after not using it since the developer preview. There are aspects of it that I enjoy very much. For instance, it is more visually compelling than Windows 7, and I especially like some of the full-screen apps (e.g. Twitter). Still, I think that the judgment of Leo, Paul Thurrott, and many other hosts and guests on TWiT shows seems to be quite apt - the mix of paradigms and the necessity of having to be trained on how to move around in and between them is not intuitive. It may feel intuitive once you get the hang of it, but it is lacking in ease of discoverability. I'm still fumbling around, and truthfully, part of me enjoys this kind of exploration... but I don't think the common user does and certainly don't think the common enterprise users and admins do.
