G+_Jason Perry
Just watching the latest know how. Are their any bio hackers here? I know about open PCR and some other fun open source bio hacking tools, but I am interested in any resources to make my own lab that I could start data mining my DNA like 23 and me does. Not really comfortable letting a website do it for me.
G+_Rud Dog
Bio Hacking, defined as related to your post? Did some link jumping and still am confused.
G+_Jason Perry
Bio hacking may be too large of a brush stroke. It encompasses everything from making glowing zebra fish, to implanting RFID tags or neodymium magnets in your body to, making an exoskeleton. In reference to my post I am interested in the DNA analysis. Even though I am interested in the broader category.
G+_Chris Druif (Automated
Jason Perry? why would you want to put neodymium magnets in your body? Personally I'd like a NFC/RFID chip in my left index finger for payments and maybe some day built in a phone when that technology becomes good enough to be powered from my body. I haven't seen any other good bio hacking ideas. Gills and see through eyelids (like a crocodile has) would be very awesome as well ?
G+_Jason Perry
Chris Druif?, people that have put neodymium magnets in their hands say they can feel electric fields (well the people that post videos about it say they can). There is a person working on an encryption key you implant in your arm, but the most common implant is an RFID tag somewhere in your hand similar to the ones a vet implants in your pet. G+_Jason Perry
PS I don't care what it is, I am against having things implanted in my body. I can only see it becoming obsolete and I am not interested in something that might need an upgraded being in my body. A pacemaker sure but something to satisfy my technolust no thanks. G+_David Wiggins
I'm still waiting for my data port. (More like Star Trek's, than Doctor Who's) Closer to your intended target was an interesting part of the NASA twin study about Scott's telomeres. (They grew somewhat in space, then shortened upon return. My understanding is that they effectively slowed the shortening due to the microgravity). Telomeres are directly linked to aging. popsci.com - What can NASA’s twin study results actually tell us?
