G+_Jason Perry
Watching KH 294 Just spit balling If an online ups is expensive and a backup ups last longer, would it work having a small online ups plugged into a large backup ups? ?
G+_Travis Hershberger
No. The power output on almost every UPS is actually a stepped digital signal. Even the "pure sine wave" models are just more quickly stepping the out put. So after going through twice as many conversions, the output gets more than a little messy. G+_Keith Mallett
Agreed. Their input is not designed for a modified wave but for regular service voltage which is very dirty with transients and harmonics. There are regulators available but they are costly. Honestly I've had more success with cheap AC emi filters in front of equipment I want to protect (ups's, my furnace, any projects I am using a ld computer power supply to get DC voltage). G+_Keith Mallett
If you bought both, do some testing and see what you get for latency on the switchover. Then pick up an AC EMI filter on Amazon and see if it help.
