G+_Jason Perry
Anyone have experience putting BNC ends on a piece of coax for a GPS receiver? Or testing the line. I am relying on someones word that it is the connector that is broken. I have a tester for f-connectors, maybe just an adapter is needed.
G+_Black Merc
A serious ham(amateur radio operator) would be the best to ask that question. Especially if that ham rigs their own tower and radiators(antennas).
G+_Robert Hafer
I used coax with BNC connectors for networking in the late 80s. Bandwidth was so low we just crimped and it worked.

G+_Technical Terry
Yes, just use an adapter and your tester will work fine for continuity. (Or you can just use a multimeter to test continuity and ensure there is not a short between shield and signal)
G+_Jason Perry
If I need to put new ends on the wire does anyone have recommendations on equipment? I am guessing my compression tool for f-connectors won't work.
G+_Joe Valasko
You could check out a video on YouTube such as the following.
G+_Technical Terry
Jason Perry your compression tool could work, it depends on the diameter of the cable. I usually just use a crimp connection. The thick cable I use for long runs is Gepco VSD2001 which requires a Kings 10-9 BNC connector. So because the jacket is thick it requires a larger die in the crimper. G+_Jared Twomey
Some compression tools will also work for BNC compression connectors, depends on the tool. I used to install them all the time for SDI cables.
