I was in the city today and because I'm thinking of replacing my dusty small computer monitor, I browsed around to see what's on offer. I entered one of the electronics shops and because I didn't immediately see the computer monitors, I asked the salesman where they are. He took a look at me, and said that these days nobody really makes computer monitors anymore, and I would be better off using a small TV as a monitor, because the quality is better... after all it's a TV, not a mere monitor. The moment he finished talking, my built in bullcrap alarm went "ding-ding-ding-ding", and the schmuck radar went "aooogah- aoooogah". Leo Laporte's voice explaining that the TV's have lower resolution and bigger pixels echoed in my brain. It's logical, isn't it? You watch TV from a distance, and the computer monitor from nearby. So there have to be a lot more pixels packed into a computer monitor. That means a higher DPI. So there you have it, ladies and gentlemen. This is why you should watch TWiT. You learn stuff, even if you don't realize it. P.S. Schmucko didn't make a sale...
G+_Joe Morrison
Well a 1920x1080 display is a 1920x1080 display, so I a small TV typically make an adequate monitor. However a lot of TV's have muddy colors and fuzzy pixels as they bleed from one to another. TV's try to hide the warts from the original signal while a true monitor is optimized for the sharpest recreation of the original signal. Take a close look at a TV as a monitor. It can make sense. G+_tony taylor
Samsung make TV\moniters but on the whole go for a monitor most small TVs don't do full HD and that wrecks the display for most people.
