G+_Jason Perry
Well this sucks. I forgot my Lastpass password. The password hint doesn't help. And it doesn't seem to let me to have two accounts with the same email address. And because I only use it on my phone I can't use the account recovery feature. It only works from a browser with the app installed. Any suggestions? ? PS this is a consequence of becoming too comfortable with the fingerprint login and not writing my password down. The last update my phone received cleared my login credentials.
G+_Shooter_FPV (Shooter_FP
Use a different email address? Sucks that this happened... sorry...
G+_Jason Perry
Funny thing is I am 100% okay with having to start again, I went in understanding that consequence. I actually feel comforted knowing you can't bypasses the password. Not a fan of I can't erase myself from Lastpass.
G+_Ben Reese
Not sure what to suggest on the password recovery. Maybe I shouldn't, but I keep mine in a KeePass vault since I can never remember exactly what it is. Shhhh... Don't tell anyone. For a second account, if you use Gmail you have a couple options: 1) Gmail let's you add tags to your account AND it ignores periods AND I think @googlemail.com works, so j.perry+lastpass@gmail.com = jperry@gmail.com = jperry@googlemail.com = j.p.e.r.r.y@gmail.com 2) I use Namecheap for a domain registrar and have my own domain name for ~$12 (USD)/year. They offer free email forwarding and a catch-all option. You could buy something like jperryrocks.com and have a custom lastpass@jperryrocks.com that forwards to j.perry+lastpass@gmail.com (I have no clue what your email address is. Hopefully it's NOT actually jperry@gmail.com. Sorry if it is ?)
G+_Akira Yamanita
This is why I put my LastPass password in Keepass. ;-) Have you tried logging in to the website just to see if it's something in the app? Worst case, you can apparently reset the account. https://lastpass.com/delete_account.php?np=
G+_Robert Pells
Really sorry to hear this has happen. I had the same problem a while back. Lastpass cannot reset the password because even they do not know it. I found the recovery procedure did not help also. But, as it has already been stated, it proves the security of the system. This is silly perhaps, but I have in the past just opened a blank document and tried to empty my mind and let my fingers remember the password. Keep on doing this a number of times and see if a pattern comes. Good luck
G+_Rud Dog
Remembering a cryptic password is a pain and I also use the fingerprint reader on my phone. I had a senior moment and could not remember my LastPass PW. It finally came to me after randomly typing in all the passwords I could remember. After which I took the advice of Leo Laporte, a line from a book and the hint was the page, paragraph, and line number. You can write this down anywhere and no one will know what book you are talking about needless to say you should pick a book you won't forget. The name of the book can then be written down and stored anywhere, anyone finding it will think it is just a name of a book.
G+_Rickbearcat
This is unresearched hyperbole, but wouldn't LastPass's website tell you what to do in an instance like this one?
G+_Stede Bonnett
You can create (and print) a set of one time use codes as a backup (that will get you past 2 factor as well). You should make like 5 or so.
G+_Rud Dog
Stede Bonnett when is useable, before or after forgotten password? Thank you for the tip. Just went to Lastpass site and couldn't fin dhte codes you mention can you point me in the right direction?
G+_Jason Perry
Rickbearcat?, the answers are buried. The only immediate choices are to have your hint emailed to you, or try an account recovery option that only works if you have a browser extension installed which I do not. This thread has given me a greater insight to safeguards to take for my next Lastpass setup.

G+_Jason Perry
Stede Bonnett?, I am going to have to look into those one time codes, that is a handy feature.
G+_Stede Bonnett
Rud Dog you need to get those codes whole you still have access. https://lastpass.com/otp.php However, it looks like those cannot be used for account recovery anymore. You need to use the recovery page from a browser that previously signed in (like OP said). This is separate from the emergency access system where you can permit trusted users access to a subset of your vault after an optional waiting period. G+_Jason Perry
Just a quick update, I think the thought of having to start over was worse than the actual process. Lastpass asked me a few times if I was really really really sure I wanted to delete my account, then I started off with a password I can't forget, and I started resetting the small handful of passwords I use all the time. Over time I will just have to reset all the less used passwords as I need them.
