G+_Jason Perry
Anyone with WordPress experience here? I am trying to create a page that exists outside of the menu of my site.
G+_David Peach
Yes I do. Yes it is possible. I will have to get home this evening to look at my WordPress dashboard so I can walk you through it. Congratulations for being a WordPress user. ??
G+_Zachary Webb
You can change your menu to only include the pages you want to have on it.
G+_David Peach
Jason Perry, When you are creating the page, on the right hand side of the page creation dashboard there is a box that says "Exclude Page." Make sure the check box is unchecked (by clicking it you are saying you want the page included). That will create the page without it appearing on your menu system. You may have to turn on the Exclude Page feature in the "Screen Options" menu at the top of your page dashboard.
G+_Jason Perry
I am having problems finding that check box. I am kinda wondering if it has to do with the theme I am using.
G+_Jason Perry
I would have thought it would be in page attributes. It allows me to select if it is a top level page. But when I turn the switch off I am forced to choose which page it is subordinate to.
G+_David Peach
Oh, you are working with WordPress.com, not .org. I take back my congratulations. Haha. Let me dig around a .com version and see what I can find. You will probably have to make a custom menu if that's even possible.
G+_Jason Perry
My plan is for this to be a temporary thing, until I am able to attend to my poorly maintained network.
G+_David Peach
I think you will have to create a custom menu. Here is a page with some videos that walk you through it. I only have 1 custom menu on my many sites. Not hard to set up, but it isn't automatic either. Once you create the custom menu then you should have the ability to either show or not show a page. en.support.wordpress.com - Custom Menus Here's another page that talks about hiding it using the pages widget. I don't know anything about this approach other than it was an alternate suggestion by WordPress.com to doing a custom menu. https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/pages-widget/
G+_Jason Perry
Thanks, David Peach?. I was hoping for a check box I missed.
G+_David Peach
If you had the real WordPress then it would be easier. ?
