G+_Jason Perry
Well, I finished watching Samsung unpacked. I am just curious about a few things. First, what flagship phones are people looking forward to this year? Second, what is your strategy for buying a new phone? Do you preorder the moment your favourite company opens their list, or do you wait till all the major companies release their phones? Oh, and what features are you looking for in your phone? G+_Robert Hafer
Because the apps I used to control my home don’t run on Android, I just wait to see what the next iPhone is like. [locked in]
G+_Jason Perry
I have a multiplatform house. I use android my wife uses iOS, I hate apps that lock you in to a single platform.
G+_Ben Reese
Jason Perry I hate it too, but kinda understand the argument that it's easier to develop for 5 variations of iPhone than 5,000 variations of Android. But our house is 95% Android and its annoying when I hear of a cool new gadget that's iOS only.
G+_Ben Reese
I just bought the Note 8, so won't be upgrading anytime soon. Hoping this phone will last me 3+ years. My HTC 10 died prematurely (should be fixable), so it was replaced after 1½ years. I feel like cell phones are at the same level as desktop/laptop computers. A 3 year old phone performs good enough and the flagship phone you buy next month should last 4 years - as long as the battery can be replaced after 2. What I'd like to see though: * Replaceable battery. Doesn't have to be super easy - I have no interest in swapping batteries daily. But give me a few screws to remove so I can replace the battery in 2 years. * Headphone jack needs to stay. It shouldn't be necessary to use a dongle to plug into headphones, older cars, stereo systems, mixing boards... * Longer battery life would be nice. Maybe 1½ to 2 days just incase I forget to charge it. * How about 2FA for phone access. [Finger Print + Iris], [finger print + trusted bluetooth], [trusted Bluetooth + face recognition], etc.
G+_Sushal Penugonda
I currently have a note 8 thinking of switching to Nokia 2 because of accidental touches on the curved screen. Plus the Nokia 2 has better battery life, faster updates and is more durable than the note
