G+_William Shimmin
A few weeks ago you ran a segment on creating a garage parking sensor using an Arduino and I've been wondering if I could do something similar with a Raspberry Pi Zero. After much experimenting, here it is.
G+_Ben Reese
The Pi Zero is electronic though. Brilliant!
G+_Ben Reese
No, you could probably out the Pi Zero inside a tennis ball and hook up a gyroscope to sense the impact. The string would have to be replaced with a USB cable. But this design is still way easier!
G+_Julian Divett
you could save on the string and just listen for the crunch
G+_Eddie Foy
Been pondering one myself. One marker for deep to open rear hatch, and a shallow one to get around the front. Most of the ones I see, seem to miss a obvious powering method: use the overhead light bulb. Its only on for a few minutes. Just use a laser pointer. No need to bring a CPU into the mix. G+_Jason Marsh
You're all missing the point here. The problem is that the Pi Zero and Arduino cannot be configured for parking right-hand drive vehicles due to proprietary software being locked to left-hand drive configs. Whole nations are considering moving to LHD to solve this simple problem.
G+_Eddie Foy
It needs to be cloud based with its own twitter feed. Load cells in the floor so I'll know in advance if I need gas.
G+_Ben Reese
The load cells sounds like a cool design, but I'm not sure it would work for me. Depending on when we cleaned out the car last, there could be enough toys, trash, strollers... to make it think we've got a full tank - or more. G+_Eddie Foy
ultrasound aimed up at the tank then. be that way! :P
G+_Joe Valasko
Awesome project. Made me chuckle! Thanks!
