G+_John Foreman
My wife and I just moved to the northwest region of Ohio and I found out by happenstance that a maker space had just opened about six months ago. I took a tour of the facility yesterday and I'm stoked. It's not fully equipped yet but it's getting there. If your in this region, google Big Fab Lab Bowling Green Ohio. They are doing arduino meet ups and drone meet ups. In the arduino meet up they are working on a home automation system and the drone group is working on building FPV's working towards racing. The guy giving me the tour was excited that I knew what a maker space was, but I was a little disappointed he had not seen any Know How episodes and had never heard of Twit.TV. Guess I'll get to spread the gospel.
G+_Steve C
I wonder if there is some way to find out if there is anything like that in the Phoenix area? When I Googled makerspace all it found were libraries and something called TechShop at ASU in Chandler. TechShop claims to be "a community-based workshop and prototyping studio on a mission to democratize access to the tools of innovation" but looks expensive. G+_John Foreman
Steve C I found out about the BG makerspace totally by accident. My daughter who has lived here for several years was somehow involved in working with them when they started it. She mentioned it to me not knowing that i even knew what it was (since she didn't really know what it was). Perhaps others should chime in with a hashtag that is universal to makerpace's
G+_Steve C
Does the Big Fab maker space cost much? TechShop at ASU is $150/mo!
G+_John Foreman
Steve C The monthly fee here is $39. $29 for seniors and students. Then they have a fee for each class that is required to run equipment. Then you pay a small hourly fee for using the equipment. Google Big Fab Lab Bowling green ohio and it's all explained on the web site.
G+_James Thatcher
Check up at @Utoledo as well, there was talk of putting something in outside engineering, but I don't know if it actually got of the ground
