G+_Urszula Kaczynski
Try turning it off and back on. Press f8 repeatedly until you get a menu. Click on last known good configuration. It might work. If not try f6,11 or 12.
G+_Phillip Adcock
That didn't work for me. I tried still just cycles.
G+_Phil Chung
ICloud was coincidence. Seeing is a laptop, I would remove the battery and leave everything disconnected for a short while before reconnecting everything and trying again.
G+_Phillip Adcock
Tried that, as well as swapping for Linux hard drive still keeps going through the power cycle
G+_Ben Reese
I've had the same issue on one of my laptops when the battery died. Seems like I had to take the battery out and leave it unplugged for a few minutes. I then plugged it back in with the battery left out and hit the power button. After it started booting I was able to put the battery back in. ? -I think this was on a Compaq that I had the problem.
G+_Ezar Vasquez
Yeah, good chance it's battery pack. Leave out for few minutes then try starting without the battery. If not you could try removing mobo battery. Good luck.
G+_P Costello
Try connecting an external display monitor
G+_Phillip Adcock
P Costello I don't think that will help the power cycling I'm having.
G+_Brad Whitfield
Do what Ben Reese said about hitting the power button after removing the battery and unplugging it, but I would also disconnect the CMOS battery, if you can get to it. This discharges pretty much everything in the computer. Afterwards, just plug in the charger (no battery or CMOS battery) and try again. I can't tell from the video, but it looks like it's giving you an error code of some kind with the LEDs. You could Google that pattern. It could also be the charger, the motherboard, memory, bad heat dismemberment, etc... Sorry to tell you this, but MOST Gateways are junk. They are getting somewhat better now that Acer owns them, but it still depends on what you buy.
G+_Phillip Adcock
The laptop is about 5 or 6 years old and battery and chargers tend to be my biggest pitfall with it.
G+_Brad Whitfield
Then those very well could be the problem. 5 or 6 years is a long time for any laptop.
G+_Alex Martinez
Whats your model number??? There could be a problem related to your computer. There was this one computer that wouldnt load and people found out you had to put it into the freezer so it would boot and then upgrade the bios to fix the problem
