G+_Phillip Adcock
Hey KH'er's, I joined the Indiana University network while I was there one day not realizing that it would install group policy I could not remove. Does anyone know how to manually and forcefully remove group policy from a window's computer?
G+_Travis Hershberger
#1 FREAK OUT! (You have to have access to an admin account to join a network, no security what so-ever and I guarantee virus ridden campus if you did that yourself.) You'll want to get back onto a workgroup, normally defaults to "WORKGROUP". Difficult to remember, I know ;) After that you shouldn't have that group policy applied anymore. If you do it's gonna be annoying to get rid of it.
G+_Phillip Adcock
Its been annoying trying to get rid of it. I'm trying to figure out how. I'm currently running windows 10 and nothing I have read has worked.
G+_Travis Hershberger
Have you found the settings page where you can change the computer name? The domain/workgroup radio button should be there. If you can't find it they probably disabled access when you joined the school domain.
G+_David Wiggins
The page is control panel > system and security > system then a link on the left sidebar that says advanced system options. this opens a new window that has a tab called computer name. Click Change to leave the domain for a workgroup (default is WORKGROUP). It may need a password with rights to leave the domain, though. If you need one, I'd call the University's tech services to get out of it.
