G+_jmadig
Hey Padre and Bryan, Just a friendly reminder to the community to be careful with LiPo charging. While charging this 2S batttery, I heard a pop accompanied by clear fluid leaking onto my new kitchen countertop. I quickly threw the offending LiPo into the bathroom sink while attending to the ?acid? on the counter top. Within 90 seconds a raging chemical fire had erupted that was contained by the porcelain sink. This certainly would have be catastrophic had I not been within earshot. From now on, I will do my charging in the seldom used fireplace! Thanks for all the great knowledge, you guys rock! Jim Anchorage, AK
G+_Erik Ellsinger
I always keep the battery in a Lipo bag while charging, maybe I should put it in the sink also.
G+_Aye Mossum
And this is why I ordered a spool of resistors for my little tp4056 chargers. I've got 130mAh and 250mAh (you did read that right) LiPos that I'll need to charge but my charger puts out 1A. No bueno. Gotta desolder the 0603-size 1.2k resistor and replace it with a 10k. Might need to break out a microscope.
G+_Aye Mossum
Which is of course not to suggest an accusation you were over-charging.
G+_Michael Heinz
I don't actually charge >in< my fireplace, simply because it's awkward to reach, but I do use a fire bag and charge on the bricks in front of it. Then I store the batteries in a different fire bag, and that goes into the fire place.
G+_jmadig
Wayne Hobbins Thanks for the info! I've been using the blue iMax B6 that Padre showed on the podcast. The 2S setting on the charger is 7.4V and I've been charging at 10C, so for this 1800mAh battery I had it set to 1.8A. I'm guessing this battery was damaged earlier that day and I didn't notice.
