G+_Robert Rydeen
I just got my da Vinci Junior 3-D printer and discovered that the distance between the nozzle and the bed is off by 1.5 mm from the left edge to the right edge. I don't see how to correct this discrepancy. Is this unit defective? See the pictures below for clarity.?
G+_Robert Rydeen
Thanks for the input. The video is not for my model which is supposed to not need calibration. I thought about using a dial indicator but didn't know how to mount it but this video reminded me I could just make a mount. I did end up shimming the base platen glass and got it parallel to the nozzle plane. It does work OK but a little worried that the nozzle carriage may have been bent in shipping so still not sure if I should get it exchanged (Amazon). I am hoping the TWIT Know How folks will address this on their unit.
G+_Robert Rydeen
The platen alignment seems to be a common issue with other owners so I am not so sure another unit will be any better. It may be a packaging problem of not adequately supporting the nozzle structure for shipping. Mine works fine with the shimmed platen. Now I need to find a source for the propriatery filament cartridge. Amazon reports 1 to 2 months.
G+_Robert Rydeen
The issue is they use a special cartridge with an NFC chip that identifies the material and quantity of material that can't be reset so you have to buy their "Jr" product. G+_Robert Rydeen
I decided to return it after running some tests the print quality and flexibility are not worth the hassle. I am go to try the Lulzbot Mini.
G+_William Steele
FYI, for others that have the same issue... there are two Torx T10 screws on the left of the gantry... you can loosen them and adjust the arm to the correct height and re-tighten them to correct for the droop.
