G+_Darren Maunu
I find 450 sized quadcopters to be a good balance between fun and practicality. Small enough to throw around and big enough to carry a nice camera and gimbal set up. It's a good all purpose quad.
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
Yup... 450 is about as big as I want to fly. -- Still enjoy 250 more, but 450 definitely has its uses if you're going to take video.
G+_Darren Maunu
So no DJI S1000's in your future?
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
The D1000 is a cool device... I covered it in our NAB special. -- $6,500+ ! But the expensive part if the camera gimble... I can build a GREAT octocopter for less than $500.
G+_Darren Maunu
I work for a UAV media company and we fly S1000's. A single S1000 setup (ground station and all) that we fly is around $25,000. Talk about pucker factor! Not as fun to fly knowing a mishap could cost hundreds to thousands of dollars. My personal multirotors are considerably less! The 450 in my video was built for less than $300 including radio. Multirotors that usually bounce rather than break have higher fun factor. Less fixin' and more flyin'!
G+_Philipp
Really powerful Mini H Quads with FPV are great fun. Search for Blackout videos and you'll know what I mean.
G+_Darren Maunu
I've watched a lot of mini quad videos. They look like they'd be a lot of fun. Had an interest in FPV for a while but never made the jump. I think something like the Blackout 330 would be right up my alley. A little more speed over the 250 size without much loss in agility.
