G+_Adam EL-Idrissi
I have. I flew this past weekend and experienced the same thing. Winds were about 5mph. It would start climbing on its own and I'd give less and less throttle but it'd still climb unless I cut power. A few other things happened but I noticed if high "rates" were on then it could handle it. Mostly because it could pitch more cutting the wind and having more throttle power pushing it forward. G+_Ron Nichols
I was flying in 15mph wind and kept it under control. The trick is putting it in high (H) mode. It is low (L) by default. Have you tried it?
G+_Adam EL-Idrissi
I love high mode. Minus the 2-3 minutes of flight time it takes off.

G+_Steve C
My Syma x5 is not very stable no matter what the lying fan boys say or show it doing in their fake videos. I can manage to keep it in my yard even in a light breeze but it still wants to soar way up in the air or dive towards the ground all by itself. You can see it doing that about 26 seconds into my video. I was trying to get it to come back down but it went way up over the trees.
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
Steve C The Syma doesn't have altitude control. It only has throttle control. Your video shows the regular oscillation that you would see in a multi-rotor.
G+_Steve C
I know it doesn't have altitude control, that's how I know most of the videos showing it flying at a steady level or even hands free are fakes. When it sours up in the air that's not too bad but mine wants to dive to the ground sometimes and I have to keep a watch out for that. What I don't understand is why nobody else ever mentions this problem or shows it doing that in their videos?
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
Steve C The thing is... some of us CAN fly it steady, level and even. In fact, Bryan Burnett and I do it all the time.
G+_Steve C
I know you guys are super heroes when it comes to drones but for the rest of us average persons who don't have psycho-kinetic super powers it usually just goes where ever it wants to. I've got a lot of rude comments from the trolls saying I just need more practice but when it's soaring upwards while I'm giving it less throttle it's like the thing has a mind of it's own, or it's actually just really unstable, which I think is actually the case. G+_Adam EL-Idrissi
Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ I agree. My friend and I both have ours trimmed for near hands free hover. Slight wander but for the most part stays where we leave it.
G+_Steve C
So we have some who say there is a problem and some making outrageous claims that it can hover hands free? Any time I see claims of being easy to fly, great for beginners or can fly hands free I know it's a lie since it doesn't have that capability so I tend to favor the first group but maybe we should have a Play-Off to find out which group is correct? G+_Steve C
Wayne, I'd think that Quadcopter 101 would have got tired of making fake videos now that he's been outed. Does he still have someone off screen flying them and saying they can fly hands free? Speaking of the X5C, Frys has it on sale today for $49 with promo code. Guaranteed not to be able to hover hands free no matter what the trolls say.
G+_Adam EL-Idrissi
Not sure if Steve is a troll or just complains about everything. Your opinion is the syma is a cheap, cappy quad and we're all liars, we got it. But....that's just your opinion. I used to fly rc planes and helis years ago,2005-2007, and when I first flew the syma I had no issues with it being uncontrollable or it flying like dirt compared to the $20 indoor "quads". But then again I have flown rc aircrafts before. HOWEVER, my friend has never flown any rc aircraft, hobby grade or cheap little toy from the mall grade, and he has no issues flying, except a few trees clipped/hit and getting used to how it works. His nephew who is 6 can fly it ,again minus the small learning curve of how a quad works, and loves it so he has his own on the way. I even let some kids at the park fly it this past weekend and they did great.again some hits and crashes but they picked it up quick. Yes you can fly it NEARLY hands fly.it will SLOWLY drift in a direction, as long as there's no wind. There's no such thing as perfect but from what I have seen the syma is a good beginner/beat up quad. I'm sorry you are having issues and can't enjoy it like we have.
