Ive just started a new slightly lame arduino project, i love gardening and the squirrels love my garden. Ive read on the web that ground squirrels have a unique ability they can increase the blood flow in tail to draw attention away from the torso, (body heat)- snakes use ir to target strikes, im wondering if squirrels are sensitive to what they use ,, im thinking motion triggered. (Ultrasonic) very bright Ir led flash. Plan b a buzzer triggered by motion and or IR. May not work but has entertainment written all over it

Allen, just to clarify. Are you looking to take a snapshot with an Arduino camera when the circuit is triggered by movement from an ultrasonic sensor?

I'd stay away from ultrasonic as squirrels use it as a warning. You'd just keep them away.

Go with an IR sensor. I researched and purchased this one for an Arduino project.

I have a neighbor, with a bb gun ,i wont go that way ,i didnt like resorting to even gentle traps. Ive even put feeders in another part of the yard , to deter. If the u Sonics are a viable deterant then a ccontrolled area may be the way to go. I don't want to harras them either
