G+_George Kozi
Question: If you had to choose one thing your kid learns in school, would it be: 1) chinese 2) Python 3) plumbing
G+_Matthew Zier-Vogel
Plumbing. I have never needed to know Chinese, python, though useful is not a necessity. But when a pipe burst or a sink clogs knowing how to fix it yourself can save you hundreds if dollars.
G+_Michael Cary
3 - Plumbing - and 4 - home electricity - two issues that I've struggled with over 40 years of home living... If I had a child now, I would tell her / him to become an expert in something (like plumbing or some other passion that can support them) and then take charge of their life. The days of going to work for one company and getting nice raises and retiring and getting a nice pension are shrinking. There are never enough experts who love what they do.... (IF - and only IF - they truly love tech, programming, etc,) then maybe I would lean toward Python. Learning some basic plumbing (and electricity) in high school, along with computer tech stuff AND a foreign language (I had to learn Francais) - that would be a good High School education. G+_Samuel Sidzyik
Plumbing. We had a home maintenance class in my high school and I feel it should be mandatory for all students. It gives a good base knowledge for house work. Don't let me pull out your septic tank by all means, but I can take a sink apart and snake a drain. More useful for everyone no matter what they choose for career as opposed to a language that they might never use.
G+_Uncle Joe (Uncle Joe Hi
If my kid needed to know Chinese he would need a lot of other skills. History wouldn't hurt either so he knows what it was like before we all had to know Chinese.
