G+_John Keegan
+Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ how would you put a new operating system on an SSD drive that already has an operating system on it??
G+_Chris Bickhaus
Which operating system do you have and which do you want to install? Do you want to dual boot, or do you want to wipe the drive and do a fresh install leaving only the new operating system on the drive?
G+_John Keegan
I am preparing for when windows 10 come out. I have a machine running an SSD with a Windows 7 installation. I'd rather not have to buy a new SSD in the fall when windows 10 comes out.

G+_Joe Phelps
John Keegan Doing an install on an SSD is no different than on a spinning disk.
G+_John Keegan
Joe Phelps so you're saying that letting the Windows do a complete wipe and install will not damage the SSD. I could've sworn that I heard Padre say that there was another step in the process. I guess I was wrong. Thank you for your assistance.
G+_Wayne Black
John Keegan I think people are a little over concerned about the lifetime of SSDs and their fragility. From what I've read, they're a lot tougher than people think. See: http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014/06/consumer-grade-ssds-actually-last-a-hell-of-a-long-time/ 700 Tbs is a lot of writing and by the time the drive gives up, the cost will have come down even more and it'll be a cheap item to replace when needed. G+_Joe Phelps
William Bello how do you do a clean installation without formatting?
G+_Wayne Black
Personally, I never worry about it. Windows installation will take care of everything. Just don't forget to backup any important data.
