Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ what do you think? This is by my city. They lack education on drones aka Quadcopters and jumping the gun.?

 

Ferndale currently has ban on RC Airplanes. Adding Drones to list of banned crafted. Defined as unmanned, RC control, use aerodynamic force for lift of vehicle.

There have been deaths and injuries, but I don't think as many as other hobbies. I could be wrong though.

Lets license people for them.  That stopped the bad car drivers from killing/hurting people.  It would just be a money grab and another database to be in.

I don't live in Ferndale, but cities tend to be copy cats! No news reports of drone injuries in Metro Detroit. Ferndale jumping the bandwagon from national news.

So they're saying you can fly on your own property - just not over the city? I don't see a big problem with that - certainly doesn't keep a lot of people from doing it if they want. Something like this would be difficult for them to enforce.
