G+_George Kozi
Leo Laporte Lisa Kentzell Mike Elgan Shouldn't there be a once a week Tech Stocks Report on TWiT? Just a short segment. What's up, what's down, what's interesting, what startups to keep an eye on etc.

G+_Joshua Hughes
I suppose the difficulty is finding someone who will take the time to research all of those stocks, and yet not invest in any of them so that they can impartially report on them. G+_George Kozi
I think this kind of stuff should be part of the programing.
G+_Srin
So true most people who do the research and spend the time are probably going to invest or already have so finding someone who will not invest in these companies will be hard.
G+_Lisa Laporte
We are working on a show about tech startups. Beta is in 4 weeks.
G+_Dave Trautman
Interesting idea Lisa Kentzell. George Kozi; I don't think it is quite as easy as you might think to do a show about investing. It is very hard to talk about stocks or prices or markets or industries without leaving the impression you've endorsed one or another of them. As much as you can put up big warnings about the show not being used as a guide for investing people will still rely on it and then blame it when they lose their shirt (along with everyone else). Mad Money went through a short period of concern when some investors went after them for their recommendations. Cramer's been so wrong about so many companies one would think it is obvious a person should not rely on him for investment advice. But when people lose money things can turn ugly. If TWiT do a show about startups then it's not really endorsing anyone and not falling into the trap of talking about companies and prices. A show would leave itself open to being manipulated into making remarks about some stock and then later find out it was fraudulent. This is also why the US President cannot talk about the state of Wall Street or any other investment vehicles because he can "move markets". I also think it is a failure of our expectations if we do not do our own due diligence when it comes to investing. We need to remember those analysts and commentators do their homework only as far as they need to for them to make comments. Investors need to get into the numbers and understand their industry deeply before they put money into anything. It might be nice to have a show which featured people who invest for a living and have them hold a round-table conversation about what's hot along with what kind of decisions they have to make every day. I'd be interested in knowing some of what they deal with and how they handle the onslaught of requests for money from start ups. I'm thinking VC guys, not stock analysts. G+_George Kozi
Oh, I don't think endorsing should come into it. It could be just a matter of fact report on what happened with Tech stocks. They could stay way away from predictions. The startup thing is interesting... I'm looking forward to it.
G+_Damian Mongru
Your last comment, George Kozi would be a good format for the show/feature. Although the nature of stocks is based in the futures, predictions are inevitable. The idea that stock A has increased because a the market thinks a product it to be announced neatly links tech news and speculation (e.g. rumours). Having said all that, my view on the stock market is that it is all made up :-) I mean Apple's stock price has fluctuated due to analyst's predictions, even though Apple release almost zero information bar events and earnings calls.
