Alright i'm about to do a project on my car inside the speakers  with leds that react to the music  like on one of the episodes but i wanted to use multi color lights  and be able to control them to change the colors that react to the music .  Does anyone know if its possible to do that and if so how? Also i wanted to put a diffuser on the led lights Is there something i could make that would do that or is there a product i could buy ?

You could do what Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ  did, but use a high pass and a low pass filter on two of the collors. So you could have red dance to the highs, blue dance to the lows, and green dance to everything.

 

The other option would be an arduino, but you would either need a line out on you sound system or use an audio transformer.

Yup... 610bob is right on the money. I've already created a three-color (RGB) setup using one transistor for the right channel, one transistor for the left channel, and one transistor that is driven by the low side of the crossover.
