G+_Alex Martinez
Hmm i had a couple of questions First Is it possible to put a travel router in your car and hook to your phones internet so tablets would have access to the internet. second to have a hard drive hooked up to the router and used as storage so i can have my movies stored so when people wanna access them while on long trips they can with there tablets third just a very curious question to have one of those dash cams and maybe put one of those wireless memory cards that could offload to the routers hard drive. Lol i really love road tripping so i just want to tweak my car to be more enjoyable , comfortable and basically bad ass in my own way.
G+_Jerry McMurphy
Good questions! I'd use this! Especially like the idea of shared hard drive! My 4Runner has AC power outlets, so it seems like something like this should work! Just not sure how you'd share your phone data plan.?
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
The answer to all of these question is: "Yes.... kinda" --- but a single elegant solution... hmmmm... might need to bust out my RasPi
G+_Cole Brodine
I use this so my kids can access a Hard Drive full of movies in the car. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AQUMZRA/?tag=pcper04-20 I'm not sure you could wirelessly transfer movies to the drive automatically, but it has a SD slot to transferring files to/from the hard disk with the app. You can have it connect to your phone's WiFi hotspot and share the internet connection with all the other devices. (I use to to share hotel internet, etc, without having to connect each device.) Best part, it is only $45, which isn't much more than a PI with a wifi dongle and this thing has a built in battery. G+_Jerry McMurphy
Alex, I did it... Mine was a little more pricey... About $230 (Airport Express and Seagate Central 2TB NAS drive) connected AE to my mobile hotspot, now have wifi network in truck with 1) Internet access 2) Airplay to Aux-in on stereo 3) access to high def movies. Everything worked first try. Rare that a project goes this well!
