G+_Alex Martinez
Im not sure if this is simple or hard to do but I had went to ikea to look for new cabinets and saw they had leds that have a sensor on them that lights up when you open the door like in this video and cost a good amount. Im wondering if its possible to add a sensor to a led strip to do the same thing so i can do my own diy version of that.
G+_Travis Hershberger
Do you remember the segments on controlling LED lights? Combine that with a magnetic contact switch (https://www.adafruit.com/products/375 is the one I have). You could even add a motion sensor quite easily (https://www.adafruit.com/products/189). For something simple like this just about any Arduino should work. An Arduino Micro would be great (https://www.adafruit.com/products/1086), or an Arduino Pro Mini (https://www.adafruit.com/products/2378) which is just a little harder to initially program. G+_David Wiggins
Also, if you have a sonar module like the garage led warning project, that could work too. LEDs off unless the range is greater than X. Granted Travis Hershberger? 's suggested mag switch would likely work best.
G+_Alex Martinez
Actually i think i just found something that could be a little easier . I was thinking this would work perfect for a sensor and attaching the leds to them and would be a bit cheaper ebay.com - Details about DC 12V/24V Body Infrared PIR Motion Sensor Switch For LED Light Strip Automatic
