G+_George Kozi
Leo Laporte Lisa Kentzell Mike Elgan I noticed that TWiT keeps mentioning "subscribe". That makes me think that this is your way of measuring stuff. I'd like to tell you that I'm watching TWiT shows every single day but I'm not subscribed to anything. I don't need to be. I only watch live. So... Maybe it's time to rethink how you measure stuff. TWiT isn't just about downloads anymore. It grew up.
G+_Elizabeth Whitmire
I think they're working on new ways to count viewers. But I agree - they should know that people like us watch live.
G+_Roland Jay Roberts
They should be getting numbers on live Viewers. I know when I view the live stream, the player (web, on iPad) usually indicates the number of people watching that stream.
G+_Elizabeth Whitmire
Oh that's true, yeah.
G+_Jeff Stevens
They ask for live views more than anything else. I think you're reading in WAY too much.
G+_Roland Jay Roberts
I seem to recall them being happy with the live views on one of the "recent" Apple event coverage specials. Maybe Lisa Kentzell could chime in and let us know. :-)
G+_Tom Gaskin
They do have to cater to both audiences :) I haven't noticed any drastic pushing of the issue imo
G+_George Kozi
It's not drastic pushing by any means. I just somehow noticed it more, but that could be purely coincidence.
G+_Alex Masters
George Kozi I've noticed it a lot too, seems as though they are wording it differently, perhaps people respond better to the word subscribe these days. On another note, I have found myself watching less Twit these days because I watched a lot of Twit. The reason is because of repetition. The same stories repeated several times per week. I actually like that in small doses, but I find it happens more often than not these days on Twit.
G+_George Kozi
Twit is at a crossroads... It is no longer the cute little baby, but starting to show signs of becoming a mature hairy legs biker geek (lol... did I put an image into your head, or what) The thing is that they are no longer the artisanal operation they once were. This means that my viewing patterns are also changing. I'm no longer interested in every single show, because there is not enough time for that. These days they have quite a lot of stuff going on, so I have to pick and choose. And that's alright.
G+_Alex Masters
George Kozi Yeah, I feel pretty much the same way.
G+_Dave Trautman
Don't forget how watching a 'pre-recorded' version of the show is called "subscribing" by a lot of the Podcast apps. On Apple's podcast app the choices are to subscribe or unsubscribe. It seems reasonable to adopt the same language used by the apps people use so as not to confuse them further. Live watchers are a different bunch from the people who watch the edited episodes. Those people are subscribers.
