Err I saw the screen savers episode with having the Synology connected to a VPN service say (pia) and having the rest of the computers routing through Synology I wanted to try it out but on the screen savers seems like it was half explained setting up the dhcp part that the clients would connect to so alittle confused on setting that part up . Just wondering if anyone has any ideas how to set that up

We're doing a few Synology NAS episodes... that was just a teaser.

Here's what needs to happen:

1. Setup your NAS as a VPN client

2. Setup your NAS as a proxy server

The NAS will keep the VPN connection alive, and the proxy server will automatically route any traffic through than VPN... AS LONG as the client device uses the proxy.

If you go into your browser settings, you can turn on "autodiscover proxy" and it SHOULD automatically find and use the NAS proxy... thereby pushing traffic through the VPN.

I seemed to have followed everything up to enabling web proxy automatic Discovery. I get a message saying " For web proxy discovery to work, you have to enable DHCP server on your network. Only one DHCP server should exist in your local network. Do you want to go to control panel now to enable DHCP server. " Im not sure if im suppose to use synologys dhcp or if using the routers dhcp is ok .But i couldnt get it to work. Ill probably just wait a bit for the show to come out about this to get the full guide. But seems like a really cool thing to be able to do on a Synology! Cant wait to see what other shows your do on synology
