G+_Mark Messiha
Hello Know How community! I need some router help. I have a NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900 (r7000). After flipping breakers off at the breaker box to change out a wall plug the router stopped broadcasting the 5GHz channel with any recognizable strength. It used to work throughout the house but now you have to be standing about an arms reach from the router to connect to that network. 2.4 GHz works fine. NETGEAR is no help as my phone support ended 90 days after purchase. I would have to pay $89.99 to get more phone support. It CAN still be returned but not until I pay the 90 bucks and go through the process. To be fair, if it is determined that it needs to be returned they don't charge the fee. I have done a factory reset, a firmware update, and changed channels and network names to try to fix the problem. So if anyone has any ideas I'm all ears. Also would installing a open source firmware (? software?) fix this? It seems like a hardware problem. Thanks!
