Does anyone have any suggestions for a cheap Micro PC dedicated to running spinrite which will have fast HD access. I have some 2TB (well 40 to be exact !) drives in my FreeNAS that I would like to run level 2 Spinrite. I am going to need quite a few of these Micro PC's hence why i say cheap !

 

I'm also exploring the option of running Xen on my server and seeing if I can spin up separate VM's each locked directly to a specific HD and having Spinrite running simultaneously on multiple drives. The bottle neck will be the Controller but it might work !

I don't have any experience with micro PCs, but Lon.TV reviews them occasionally.

 

The VM idea doesn't sound too bad if Xen can expose the bare drive to the client OS.
