I'm trying to create a secure OS using Qubes and this means controlling the entire process from initial power on until Xen (core of Qubes) gets control. Coreboot seems to be the way to regain control of the BIOS. I'm also interested in being able to flash in situ using an SOIC8 test clip. Coincidently I'm also relearning Assembler so the creation of the Coreboot code will be good practice

forgot to mention, the inspiration came from this kickstarter puri.sm - Purism – High-quality laptops that protect your freedom and privacy , I loved the idea of a completely open source laptop . Shame that Purism fell short of this but the intent was there, maybe others will follow and do it completely, mind you how that will ever be possible with the closed hidden code that is now part of all new Intel CPU's is a hurdle (hence why I'm using my trusty AMD powered G505S)

There is a long component shopping list (http://dangerousprototypes.com/docs/Flashing_a_BIOS_chip_with_Bus_Pirate#SOIC8_test_clip) , I have some of the items but not all so just did an order on aliexpress.com - Find Quality Wholesalers, Suppliers, Manufacturers, Buyers and Products from Our Award-Winning International Trade Site. Wholesale Products from China Wholesalers at Aliexpress.com. (what an addictive site especially for cheap electronic components and tools) , however, it will take about a month for everything to arrive so I am going to switch to the Qubes OS part for now.. Will do updates as I progress
