G+_James Barry
I have an interesting project to solve and I need some help! I am looking to buy/build a universal remote control for my home theater set up. There is a bit of a twist though... I have a pretty standard home theater set up (AppleTV, Xbox One and ChromeCast with OTA TV via my Xbox One). The kicker is that I do not have a normal "receiver" as I have a Bose Lifestyle 20 system that is about 20 years old. So far, I have not been able to find a universal remote that works since the Bose remote is RF while all of the rest of the components are IR. My questions are: 1) Does a RF/IR universal remote exist? (I haven't found one yet). 2) If one does not exist, is there a way I can build one? (I'm looking at you Raspberry Pi) Thanks, James http://worldwide.bose.com/productsupport/en_us/web/ls20/page.html
G+_Dan Hockey
Do you still have the remote? If so does it work? Look up the FCC id number for the transmitter to see if you can find the frequency it transmits on. If so have a look at hak5.org and search for "sdr". This is the cheap option to get started... http://hakshop.myshopify.com/collections/wireless-gear/products/software-defined-radio-kit-rtl-sdr If you do figure out the codes it transmits then you could try the hackrf to transmit your reverse engineered codes. http://hakshop.myshopify.com/collections/wireless-gear/products/hackrf hope this helps. G+_Jason Marsh
The Logitech 900 and 1100 have RF transmitters. I think they've moved on from that line. I'm sure some other makes have RF, but I haven't seen a comprehensive feature comparison. You may want to contact Crutchfield by phone, as they have some very knowledgeable staff also. G+_Jason howe
Don't waste your time if you really want to step with a uv remote you be better off going with pioneer, denon or onkyo avr something like for what you are trying to Bose would be the last sync method, if you can find the ir codes all well.. If I were going to use a uv remote I'd use 1 within the category of USB programable.. Other wise it will be hit and miss to get everything working..
