And typically, now that we have seen this headline, we'll never see actual solar material.. ever. I keep seeing articles like this and never is there anything down the road that people can buy. Sort of like Lithium Ion batteries. Saw a report years(?) ago how a researcher figured out if you coat the batteries nano wires it can get 100s of thousands of recharge cycles.. And yet today, not a damn thing has changed in Lithium Ion batteries.

Ronald Stepp Yes, and when I see these game changing ideas I experience the identical sentiment as you expressed here. Think they are waiting for us to pass.

No matter how cheap or efficient the panel is, you must factor in the very large cost (in many locations) of paying a licensed electrician to connect the panels+inverter to your existing home electrical system.

Add Much more expense if you add battery storage as the fire dept wants a safety disconnect to protect them when your house catches on fire.

When your roof needs work, count on paying the electrician Again to disconnect / reconnect, and also a sane crew to remove the panels from the roof without breakage.

 

Did you ask me why I DON'T have solar-voltaic panels installed? IMO the only sane SVP installation is on a separate, standalone canopy, larger property required.

IF and I use big if for effect, they ever become available. If they did then the cost would be reduced for installation by

what ever the saving on the panels themselves could be but again "IF".
