G+_Rico Cantrell
Padre, Below is the email I got back from Omni Charge today: Hi Rico, Thank you for reaching out to us. We appreciate your support! Due to issues with USB-C after the new MacBook Pro launch, we decided to postpone our launch of USB-C. We agree that USB-C is a future industry standard, and we are currently working on developing a safe DC-to-USB C cable. It will be available in our online store in a few months! Please subscribe to our newsletter at the bottom of our webstite: www.omnicharge.co and we will keep you posted! Best regards, Jane Omnicharge Support Team http://www.omnicharge.co
G+_David Wiggins
I'm glad a company would rather wait and get it right. Look at all the devices blown by bad c cables. Letting the customers know why is another plus. I wonder if the power regulator is in the connector or the port. I feel the need for a type c deep dive. G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
The issues is that USB-C is WAY more than just a power-data connection. It's a REALLY flexible standard (which is why USB-C can have USB 2/3/3.1 & Thunderbolt AS WELL as alternate modes for DisplayPort, HDMI, etc.) You could just pump 5v 50W through the connector, but that's a ham-handed way to do it that could potentially destroy connected devices. So yeah... +1 to David Wiggins :: I want a company to do it right. :)
