Wikipedia has a nice summary of the 'Heidi Game' and how it impacted network broadcasts of football games. I remember the event. It was very frustrating because those who were interested in the game were glued to the tv sets (no internet in 1968). In the New York area, you could turn on the local radio to hear the exciting end of the game, but outside that area, the entire East Coast was totally ignorant of the fact that two touchdowns were scored in the final minute of the game.
