Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ While you were showing us the Cayenne interface, you said it also works with ESPies (?) but I didn't know what that was, so tried to look it up.

After reading some datasheets, I still can't tell if it's a WiFi adaptor for Arduino, or a standalone device. Can you explain what it does, and maybe show a quick project demonstrating its functions?

thanks

Paul Hutchinson Thanks, but that was one of the articles I read yesterday when I was trying to understand exactly what it does. I know it can work as a wifi adapter for Arduino, but you may notice from the question that I posted, I'm trying to understand if it has any standalone functions. Can it interface with sensors directly, or does it need to be connected to a microprocessor? The Sparkfun article (the text of which also appears on other sites attempting to explain the functionality) mentions "allows it to be integrated with the sensors and other application specific devices through its GPIOs ", so that led me to inquire whether it needs to be connected to a microprocessor like Arduino, or can it interface directly with sensors.
