G+_Neil Patel
Does anyone else find the volume kinda low for Know How? I find TWiT shows are lower in general but I find myself having my volume at 50% or higher (vs. around 5-15% for most other shows & around 35-45% for other shows like TWiT, TWiG & TNT) Thanks! G+_Joe Phelps
I've always found TWiG to have the most challenging audio. Jeff Jarvis is always hard to hear.
G+_Neil Patel
Cool! Thanks :p as long as I'm not losing my hearing :p
G+_Chris Hightower
I had noticed that TWiT shows' audo was lower when I listened to them as podcasts on my phone. Sometimes I couldn't turn the volume up enough to really hear what was going on. (Edit to fix punctuation.)
G+_Neil Patel
Yeah at first I thought it was my old phone but I got a new one and that didn't do it..i got new headphones after and that didn't do it either so I'm stumped :p
G+_John Mink
Neil Patel I've noticed that sometimes too...but given some of the other shows I'm comparing to, maybe everyone else is just loud?
G+_Neil Patel
It's possible ..maybe I listen to shows that are in that 5-25% volume range so anything higher seems odd...quality is fine so I guess I just want perspectives :p
G+_John Mink
Neil Patel fair enough. I suppose i'm in the same boat then, if the made the shows louder, I certainly wouldn't complain.
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
I "could" start yelling. :)
G+_Neil Patel
Haha I suppose Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ but then you could lose your voice and we couldn't hear you at all and no one wants that :p
G+_Brian Drake
I think it has to do with who does the final edit on the shows. I've noticed that at times there can be a wide range of variability in the "floor" audio levels of TWiT Shows, and it can even vary between episodes of the same show. I don't mind doing a little adjusting to the volume level on my end, but when one podcast is barely audible with the volume all the way up, AND THE NEXT ONE SOUNDS LIKE YOU'VE BEEN STUFFED INTO THE PA AT A ROCK CONCERT, it does get a little annoying. ESPECIALLY IF ITS HARD TO GET TO THE CONTROLS ON YOUR DEVICE WHEN THE VOLUME IS HIGHER ON THE PODCAST THAN YOU EXPECTED.
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
I'll ask the engineers if they can turn up the audio profile a little... and perhaps Bryan Burnett can balance the audio a little higher during the edit. -- I think the problem is that I have a really big volume range and the compressor does weird things to me.... that's a nice way of saying that the compressor thinks that everything coming out of my mouth is noise. :)
G+_Neil Patel
If it counts for anything I think your presentation is good but I totally understand the leveling issues... They are a tad painful :p
G+_John Mink
Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ that must mean they finally got the troll filter working :p <>
