What do you guys think of the department of transportation's intention to require "drone" registration?

Just my thought. The feds may require it on pre-built, ready to fly drones you buy from retailers. But anyone with the technical chops to buy parts and built one is going to be impossible to regulate.

Plus most of the ones sold are actually little toys like the H4 and I doubt there is any chance at all of getting all the kids to register their toys!

the offical vid from FAA said they aren't going to regulate toy drones,  So I am wondering where that cutoff goes and when a multirotor is being regulated?    I am guessing they think the DJI Phantom size and bigger are not toys. But what about 250s?

I wonder how long it will be before drone flyers are declared to be terrorists?  It looks like the govt. didn't have any luck with real terrorists and gun owners so they are going after an easier target, kids that get drones for Christmas!  I guess it's actually lucky that I got a worthless Pixhawk PX4 that doesn't work or I'd be in trouble.

There are restrictions on remote controlled planes in some states. Drones will probably fall under similar rules eventually.
