G+_Michael Dombrowski
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this issue with Windows Storage Spaces that I'm having? I cannot remove a failed drive from a 2-way mirrored array. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-files/storage-spaces-drive-removal-error/330753d1-bcdf-4fde-b05f-5c1e570f5d81?tm=1439226618137&auth=
G+_Jason Marsh
I haven't used Storage Spaces, but I'd try this: 1. SpinRite that bad boy. 2. Add the new drive to that pool/space, THEN remove the old drive. 3. Bring up a new pool/space, copy the data over to that, then delete the old one. 4. Scrub it all and go with StableBit DrivePool. G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
Add a 2TB drive and allow the array to rebuild. Then remove the dead drive.
G+_Michael Dombrowski
Thanks for the suggestions. Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ? I tried adding a 4tb red, but that still wouldn't let me remove the failed segate 2tb.
G+_Michael Dombrowski
It should be able to rebuild without adding any drives because it isn't nearly full.
G+_Michael Dombrowski
So I ran spinrite on it and that didn't help. Running get-physicaldisk in powershell now shows that it lost communication with the computer, but disk utilities show that it is connected. G+_Michael Dombrowski
I did try different ports that are on different controllers, but that didn't work either. I then tried recovery with a different application, but now windows sees it as a separate drive, not part of the storage pool. So now I need to know how to remove a disconnected drive from the pool.
