Can anybody tell me if this kind of stuff is even relevant these days anymore? If I'm not mistaking, Windows 8.1 takes care of all that stuff automatically and in the background. So, is there a point to software like this anymore?

 

I'm not making a judgement call... I just wonder. Microsoft seems to have things under control in its OS. In fact, I'm not even using a virus scanner anymore. Windows takes care of that too. All I have to do is keep Windows up to date... and that's automatic too.

I never tried any of these 'quick fixes'. Usually they are bogus programs designed to make it look like there's a problem, THEN they ask for money to fix your issues. I'd say avoid these types of things, because as you said, most updates, even drivers, happens automatically.

I would agree.  These things always look shady to me.  However, it is amazing how badly Windows still does with certain things, like finding the best drivers, eliminating malware, recovering from boot issues, etc.

I'm still looking for a good solution to capture divers from a "golden machine" for SCCM and MDT deployments. I support 50+ make/model types and manually capturing the Driverstore is so time consuming. I've tried Drivermax, but that also seems shady and doesn't grab everything.
