G+_George Kozi
Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ Originally shared by George Kozi Passing thought, in 3 facts and 1 question. Fact 1: big birds fly in V formation when they migrate because it is the most energy efficient. Fact 2: we know how to safely fly drones and military airplanes in formation. We have the technology to swarm them. Fact 3: fuel costs are one of the biggest expenses in civil aviation. Question: Why don't airplanes form V formations, and cross the oceans that way? Richard Branson Surely we can't be dumber than a bunch of geese...?

G+_Travis Hershberger
It's all down to the FAA and being a little touchy when you have 500 people in a single large flying object. If two of those things touch, bad things happen. Plus the engines on the lead plane would cause all kinds of turbulence, cause even worse things to happen than when they touch.
