G+_Glyn Jones
Hi all, sorry for the random Q but thought there might be some modders or builders who could help me out and I know there are a lot of Chromecast users in this community to. Has anyone tried or know if it possible/practical to setup and use a Chromecast Audio device with an old car radio to give my old car 'in car casting' ?? All I want is to send/cast my Google play music app from my note 3 to the car speakers. I know a Bluetooth system is probably easier to install but I already have the Chromecast Audio dongle (impulse buy when I ordered a new TV chomecast dongle) and I'm just thinking about how to put it to good use. Also Bluetooth would only allow one person to choose the songs (without a game of pass the phone) from their device whereas i'm assuming my Chomecast audio might work like the tv chromecast and allow everyone with a device in the car to cast tracks into a playlist (although I could be very wrong about that)? Wifi seems the biggest hurdle, can I get around needing a router/mifi connection by using guest mode?? or my phones adhoc wifi network? Or am I just going to open a huge can of worms that'll be more effort and trouble than it's worth? thanks for any advice. Glyn
G+_Mark Estes
Seems like more work to open a tether wifi network every time you get in the car
G+_Joseph Cappellino
It has been done (I don't remember where I saw it). You just need to have WiFi Tethering working for the Chromecast to connect to, and "Guest Mode" setup so that devices not on the same network (your host device included) can connect to it. I'm sure if you search for "chromecast audio car radio" you'll find something.
