G+_George Kozi
Just puttin' this here, and I'm backing off slowly... no sudden moves or anything... Leo Laporte I believe you have a big debate coming up on this next Sunday. Mostly because we generally have our noses so far up your butt, we can't see straight. I mean, we still call the damn Queen "mom", and really haven't moved out of Britain's basement yet. So who are we/I to talk. As your kid brother, we've been watching you grow up and mature for centuries. We admire you! You've done a lot of good for this world! But. But! It's time for reflection, to look in the mirror and ask, "Is our way of doing things really all that much better?" What we see, me and many others, is a country run by oligarchs, who have neutered the governance, and convinced themselves that somehow this unfettered 'capitalism' is for the better. Cuz, you know, so many of its citizens prosper under such an unbridled system. Where the cowboys with the biggest guns, and most money win the west. (they already own the east) So you get things like the world's most expensive, least effective healthcare system (unless you're rich). And one of the most expensive, least effective broadband systems. And, to carry on this theme, a continual gutting of the middle class, and mistaking credit for wealth. Worse, because the big guns own the gubbermint, they craft regulation that stacks the deck against business new comers. Or small business. Or any business that poses a threat to the owners of government. And you quite naturally yell, "Regulation doesn't work!! Gubbermint needs to stay out of the way of business!!" I agree, whole heartedly. But only because you have no idea how regulation can work, and no willingness to consider other nations can be pretty exceptional too, and learn from them. And for reasons that utterly confound your brethren from around the world, you seem somehow content having 1% of the population accumulate all the wealth, buy the government, and let them right the rules for their own benefit. Somehow, you find that exceptional. Cuz it's the American Way. Look at what some of the rest of the world is doing, because we have exceptional qualities too. http://venturebeat.com/2014/11/12/what-france-has-taught-me-americans-are-suckers-who-have-themselves-to-blame-for-crappy-broadband/
