Hey guys, I have a mid 2009 MBP that I just upgraded the RAM for, and gave it an SSD

Ok, word of caution. I used to be a tech for apple. It is a lengthy process to get a logic board replaced in a MBP, let alone a retro fit of a newer logic board to a first gen unibody design.

You also have to keep in mind that not long after the introduction of the unibody design, apple began to reduce the size of the shell. This included the logic board as well. If you try to fit a 2012 logic board into your 2009 unibody shell, I think you will find that the ports may not match up.

Fans were also redesigned. There is ALOT that you have to consider before making the attempt.

My suggestion:

If the ram upgrade went well, and the SSD is working well, and she is booting faster.... Be happy! Lol

Ohhhhh and there are temp sensors you will need to worry about as well.

I just don't think the slight bump in graphic performance would be enough for me to want to attempt a retro fit like that.

Consult i-fixit.com for a example of a tear down, and correct tools.

Yep. I agree! But to be honest, using boot camp for a native boot into windows the performance is actually spot on. But you are correct that the "chosen" graphics card that apple uses are not the best for gaming. I keep hoping that will change. I'd love to see a new design with a user serviceable GPU or "SIMM" that you could change yourself for added performance.

Thanks for the advice guys. Yea thats the plan, Ijust put in an SSD and booting into windows is now awesome. iFixit says you can replace logic board with an identical one if mine is damaged, but there isnt much documentation on replacing it with a different logic board. My Mac is the only computer I have, and getting a new one is gonna be upwards of 2k :(
