G+_Laurent Loganathan
Hi KH Community, need some battery advice. I have a mid 2009 MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion installed. The battery has already gone through about 700cycles, and yet I'm only getting on average 2hrs of battery just browsing (not flash video). On Lion I was getting 4.5-5hrs on average (which is understandable). I have istat menu installed, and I constantly monitor CPU processes. Nothing stands out, yet I still get an average of 2hrs battery life on Mountain Lion. I upgraded to an SSD and went from 4 to 8gb memory, no improvement (the speed increase was what I was going for). Any advice on receiving some of the original 7hrs of battery ?
G+_K R
Can't you replace the battery through the apple store?
G+_Laurent Loganathan
Its mid 2009 and my apple care expired in 2012. No warrantee anymore :S
G+_Laurent Loganathan
But 700 cycles isn't bad, this and later batteries can go through 1000 cycles before losing a significant chunk of its ability to hold charge
G+_Daniel Goldman
I have this same issue with my 15 Month old MacBook with only 232 load cycles. I always chalked it up to having a ton of apps open at once and doing a bunch of switching, but lately I have been doing a ton of web based stuff without needing to lug out a bunch of tools. I don't have a solution either, but just wanted to say that you are not the only one.
G+_Laurent Loganathan
Thanks for the input Daniel ! Don't know if its our apps, cause I replaced my HDD with a blank SSD, reinstalled ML, brought back only a few apps (Dropbox, Evernote etc), and I'm still getting an average of 2.5hrs...ML just isn't power efficient anymore ?
