Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ  Now that I learned the hard way about buying cheap radio equipment, here is my question. I have a Fly Sky FS-TH9X I was going to do the FrSky Module upgrade on my Fly Sky FS-TH9X or am I better off getting a FrSky Taranis X9D radio either way I should have a Fail-Safe on it. Last weekend I lost my Alien-X to a gust of wind and the poor range of the stock Fly Sky.I spent 5 hours looking for it and no luck. My new Alien-X was delivered today and now I am playing the waiting game for the rest of the parts to come in. Also I am waiting on suggestions on a flight controller with GPS for my Alien-X.

if you have the money, the taranis is great for a whole host of reasons. especially if youre using frsky receivers. Voice features, built in 2.4ghz module for frsky rx's, plus a bay for add on modules, openTX is amazing, etc. You could add on a UHF module later if you want long range as well :D.

If your receivers dont have failsafe, i'd definitely ditch them. You wont be saving money if you loose your quad.

I say you get a taranis and some d4r-ii rx's for your quads. They're tiny, and you get PPM and telemetry built in.

Taylor Graham I was in the process of upgrading my radio with the FrSky module (have not ordered it yet) that would give me the failsafe and the other ports for telemetry on the receiver. But I think your right about getting a new radio that way I don't have to mess around with modding it.

YAS GAGA. You'll like it. I have mine set up using 8 channels and telemetry with my d4r-ii. Make sure you download the "Amber" sound pack. That way a nice lady can let you know what your battery voltage is, in the air, at the flick of a switch.

Also, check out R. Scott Page's videos: https://www.youtube.com/user/PagesFlyingCircusThey'll help you learn about all the settings in opentx.
