Watched the latest KnowHow about streaming. I still remember the days of dial-up. As such I have ALWAYS been very bandwidth conscious. Is HiDef of the video worth the bandwidth. With the exception of New Screen Savers and KnowHow, Twit shows are mostly talking heads. Therefore I usually don't even watch them. I watch those 2 on 480P. I will watch Avengers and all the other EPIC movies in 1080P or someday 4K (when I get a 4K TV), but I watch non-epic movies in 720P, even the really good ones. A movie has to earn my bandwidth.

I can't think of a single youtube channel that deserves 4K.

Am I wrong?

I love the show, but I don't need to see it in 4K.

That depends if your bandwidth capped or not. No bandwidth usage cap, you shouldn't care about bandwidth usage at all.

I agree with you that most TWIT shoes are just talking heads, so I just download them at home on my unmetered connection. (I use BeyondPod, but I know better apps are available now).

I do, however, whatcha KnowHow at home in full 1080p.

I get where you're coming from. Why transfer bits that don't need to be? I'm not that aggressive about reducing bandwidth though. I generally let YouTube select the quality. For TWiT podcasts, I use the Video-HI feed for video podcasts. Most of my subscriptions are audio-only. For archiving, I always choose the highest quality format. I may have given up my stingy ways after I gave up the fight against HTML formatted e-mail.

It depends on the show. I usually download the 720p video because the hosts often show visual objects in the show. Know How, Security Now, and TWiCH are very much like this. I also like to see facial expressions.

Other shows like Floss Weekly, TWiG, and TWiT, Windows Weekly are very much talking heads so audio only is fine.
