G+_Karim Gillani
Have any ideas what to do with a nexus 7 with a cracked screen? I was thinking of a media server or xbmc player. What would I need to connect it to my tv (hdmi) and keep it powered at the same time?
G+_Greg M
No way of getting HDMI out from a Nexus
G+_Alex Knutson-Smisek
Yeah, sadly the nexus 7 doesn't use a chipset that supports video output through USB. Is it still possible to use the screen at all?
G+_Karim Gillani
The screen is usable a little bit... Lots of rotating. Probably enough to sync to a keyboard. So any other uses?
G+_Alex Knutson-Smisek
If you have a raspberry pi you could set up a wireless display to a TV through the Miracast. The nexus 7 needs to be unlocked and flashed with a new factory image. You can see those instructions here http://esrlabs.com/android-transporter-for-the-nexus-7-and-the-raspberry-pi/ Otherwise I know there are apps that let you set up a device as a server to store files and media and share them around your house.
