G+_MrBryan092785
So I built a SIP PBX with the raspberry pi using incredible pi. I configured the trunk to my google voice account. I configured the inbound route and destination. Configured the destination. I can call the extensions fine but when I call an external number I get an endless ringing. Does anybody have the remotest of ideas on what to check here? I should also mention that I have been trying to test the outbound calling from a ios soft phone that is VPNd via OS X server (l2tp). I have no idea if that would cause the issue but I assume not because the soft phone registers to the raspi PBX.
G+_Travis Hershberger
First off, nice use of a pi! Secondly, have you tried making an outgoing call from the local network without the VPN?
G+_MrBryan092785
I have. I still get a continuous ring. I haven't yet found why this is not working. The configure seems to be solid. All extensions will connect but no in or outbound numbers.
G+_Travis Hershberger
Hrm, sounds like something's wrong with the google voice connection (which isn't available as a service anymore btw, it was discontinued and rolled into hangouts.) I haven't used PBX software before even tho I know of a number of businesses in the area that could really use one, sad geek.
G+_MrBryan092785
I am able to make outgoing and receive calls through the google voice app.
G+_MrBryan092785
But that is not on the PBX side... I don't know what the deal is. I read that it was going to be ousted in May also.
G+_Ben Reese
If you can get outbound Google Voice calls using any non Google Apps/services, I'd be really surprised. I used FreePBX a few years ago to place GV calls, but I think Google was using XMPP at the time to place calls. They ditched that a few months ago which blocked out all the 3rd party tie ins. I've looked into it a bit more recently and you can get a free SIP phone number from a company in Washington state, but that has to route to a SIP address before it can be used. Another option is to get a Magic Jack (still $30-$50?) and you used to be able to extract the SIP credentials from that - I've never tried to, myself.
