G+_Lou Perez
Basic question about Synology RT2600 and Asus RTACR1300. Aside from time limitations, do either of these include content filtering for parental controls? The only think that impresses me about Netgear is the Parental controls integration with OpenDNS. G+_Ben Reese
OpenDNS was going to be my recommendation. What sort of integration does Netgear have? I think OpenDNS has support for hosting your own DNS server, so maybe that's it? I've got OpenDNS setup at home on the ISP-supplied router and it works great. That said... I did a quick search "rt1900ac block sites" and found this site explaining how to setup the DNS site blocking feature of this router - including site categories like violence, adult content, etc. shadowandy.net - Synology RT1900ac Review - Intelligent DNS-based Web-filter - shadowandy - my life stories I'm sure a similar search for the Asus would give helpful results. Since OpenDNS is so easy to setup; I don't think I'd consider that filtering as a strong requirement. The exception being if your public IP changes often since that's how OpenDNS identifies you for blocking rules.
G+_Lou Perez
Ben Reese the Netgear allows you to setup an account on OpenDNS that customized your filtered results. The router then uses those settings to control site access, so even if you set a different DNS server on your device behind the router, the router still filters access.
